From The Berwick Advertiser: SHOPKEEPERS in Berwick have pleaded for short stay parking to be reintroduced on Marygate to help breathe fresh life into the town centre. They have implored Northumberland County Council to scrap the £1 million part-pedestrianisation scheme introduced on the high street six years ago. Sweet shop owner, John Gardiner, said: "I've traded on Marygate for 20 years and watched its decline since the changes were made to make it more pedestrian friendly. lots of folk just park down the left side while they nip into whatever shop ,especially down by greggs . who can blame them ! whos gonna parkright down hide hill if they only want a pasty for their bate ??
