From The Berwick Advertiser: THIRTEEN women made history when they took up their newly acquired right to the freedom of Berwick in a special ceremony on Tuesday. For centuries, the freedom of the town has been a privilege bestowed only on the sons, and more recently, the grandsons of freemen. However, the Guild of Freemen of Berwick has now changed its rules of admission to allow daughters of freemen to receive the honour. itll take more than that to get the freedom of berwick mind it was a good calender and they were very brave to do it !!
