BERWICK Town Council and the Mayor have backed a bid to make Berwick a Fairtrade town.
Coun Flora Simpson agreed at a recent meeting of the town council to become their representative on a steering group aiming to gain Fairtrade status for Berwick.
Berwick Fairtrade organiser, Eileen Richardson, held a meeting last month to gauge support in the town and a group of volunteers have now created a steering group to push the project forward.
