From the Berwick Advertiser: ALMOST 100 cars were stopped by police in Berwick, Wooler and Seahouses as part of a joint operation recently. Officers from neighbourhood policing teams plus other uniformed officers worked alongside Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) staff and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) officers to run checks on vehicles in the area. I was watching a police programme on the tellybox a few months ago where they were saying a fair percentage of cars they were stopping were being driven by "east europeans" - no licence, tax, MOT, insurance...... They were getting frustrated because the blokes always pretended they couldn't speak english (or maybe they couldn't)....they gave them a "producer".....then invariably never saw them again!!!
