From the Berwick Advertiser: BERWICK Food Festival attracted 8000 visitors to the town over the weekend and has been hailed a huge success by organisers. as i was a great success maybe berwick council should consider making more use of the barrack square with more similar events .the barracks would be a good venue for lots of different things.

i used to work there and you've no idea the amount of folk asked for a little cafe, somewhere to have a nice cup of coffee after they'd walked around the barracks but would english heritage listen........would they what somebody could do a canny little trade in there

The problem with doing anything in the Barracks is the fact that they are run by English Heritage and they want money for entry the only reason it was free for the food festival was it was open doors weekend and mosr EH properties are open for nothing anyway. There was a tea room in there when it 1st opened but it done nothing

i worked at the barracks before i was married and it was a very interesting place . loads of interesting books and things in the officers mess ,and even beds upstairs from when the K.O.S.B. were billeted there.
