BERWICK MP Sir Alan Beith has condemned the government for its role in the collapse of the National Express franchise to run the east coast main railway line.

The Lib-Dem, who uses the train to travel between his constituency home in Berwick and Westminster, says the government must stop looking at the route as a cash source
