A murder trial has been delayed at a cost of thousands of pounds to the tax payer because one of the jurors is going to Glastonbury, it has been claimed.
A new jury will have to be sworn in for the case at Snaresbrook Crown Court, London, which was scheduled to last three weeks.
Judge David Radford had initially said the member of public could not be released but has now changed his mind.
Explaining his decision, he said: "If you had elaborated a bit more on what going to Glastonbury entailed, I would have stood you down this morning.
"I think you perhaps presupposed a bit too much knowledge on my part. This is essentially a pre-booked holiday and you have organised to go with friends.
"A new jury will be sworn in on Wednesday morning allowing the trial to begin", said Judge Radford.
Glastonbury 2009 takes place on June 26-28, with Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Blur set to headline.
