rates are too expensive shame for berwick, they missed the boat when they wanted to develop the quayside and the potteries also joes old shop at the bottom of hide hill but the civic soc. had other ideas ie let them rot and decay, i was led to believe there was developers ready to put their money in to these projects but whoever it was listened to the civic soc. ie: prehistoric soc. remember when they had the cruise ships stopping off spending money in the town they even made a jetty for them, that all stopped too now they just sail by

The civic soc are a bunch of unelected self appointed numpties who think they have the best interests of Berwick in their hands, well I'm sorry to disappoint them they dont! If it was left up to them we would stiil be using horse and carts in Berwick. While I agree that development in the town must be in keeping, they take it to far. They even go into older houses for sale and take pics so they can try and lay down the law about what you can do when you buy them. These are the same group of people who think that the lights on the railway bridge are going to bring bus loads of visitors to look at them and it will be a benifit to the town! When the lights are on who is open to benifit? Rant over

give it 2 or 3 years and there will be no more pubs, £3-40p a pint by next month due to sky high barley prices, kinda makes sense now , the reason for the great grain robbery 2 years ago lol

Twenty or Thirty years ago, a man from Scremerston used to write long letters to the Advertiser regularly, about how the town would suffer if we got out of town supermarkets, and the town centre would die as a result of the Doughnut effect. Oh how we laughed at his diatribes - it would never happen here, this is Berwick - we'll always have a High Street. We gave up Parking on the new bridge, pedestrianised Marygate, allowed the Bus Station to be sold for a bag of magic beans, ........
