my daughter (28 ) has learning difficulties, she also suffers from schizophrenia ,moderate tourettes syndrome ,epilepsy and she now has depression !.any help for people like her , who live at this end of the county is minimal . i was wondering if anyone else has had any similar problems trying to get the appropriate care or help we all pay our dues up here in Berwick but it seems all the facilities we need are situated in the south of the county !!!

that should be a priority not just for her but for you as well, can't be easy and you'll feel alone, you should ask at the CAB if there's any help out there, god knows there's enough help for druggies grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

i can get respite care for her--7 nights per year (cut from 56 nights two years ago !) the respite home is at Blyth and only has 6 beds .It is a unit within an old peoples home and serves an area from Blyth to Berwick !there are a few "in house " respite places available but this is still not enough for such a large area

totally agree with you Grumpy . problem is people like us "cope" , but when things do go wrong things have gone to far to be fixed easlily.I know one lad who was taken to Hexham for respite when his mother(in her 80s ) was taken to hospital suddenly . I could go on and on----it really makes ma blood boil !!!!
