now the council want to turn our famous barracks into a fancy hotel . have they no noticed that a lot of berwicks hotels have closed (probably cos theyve no been making a profit ) .so would a 60 room hotel work here ?

As far as I'm concerned this is a non starter. The Barracks were the 1st purpose built Barracks in the country and EH should market them more the same as the walls coz again they are unique, the walls around Chester get more mentions from them and they small in comparison. Sorry I forgot they are down south so they HAVE to be more important dont they Rant over

I worked in the barracks and its a very interesting place ,a few little ghosties too i think . hope the ghosts chase the councillors away ( wi their fixed bayonets !! )

suzi i worked there too in the gymnasium gallery and the amount of folk who wanted a cup of coffee there was unreal but would english heritage listen would they what

When the Barracks 1st reopened there was a tea room in B block, ok it was only drink and snack machines but it worked and was used. It was closed down and the machines taken out because of damage and theft, no camera in there, they new who was doing it but couldnt catch the little sods
