A DALKEITH man was found dead on the Magdalene Fields golf course in Berwick early on Sunday morning.
A dog walker found the 52 year-old at the bottom of a seven metre deep gully beneath the 13th tee.
It is believed the man had been returning from an evening in the town centre when he fell into the gully from the footpath which crosses the golf course.
He was one of a party of visiting golfers who had been staying at Berwick Holiday Centre.
The coroner has been informed but there are no suspicious circumstances

A MAN was killed when he was hit by a high speed train south of Berwick on Monday night. The death of the 47 year-old from Brompton on Swale, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, is not thought to be suspicious.
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: "BTP officers were called to the line close to Goswick foot crossing, Berwick, on Monday, 6 September, after a report that a man had been struck by a train.
"Officers from BTP and Northumbria Police attended the incident, which was reported to police at 9.04pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
"Paramedics from the North East Ambulance Service also attended but the man, believed to be 47 years old and from Brompton on Swale, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A file will be prepared for the coroner," he added. The train involved was the 2.41pm Reading to Edinburgh service
