Traders count the cost of severe power cut in Berwick town centre SHOPS and businesses have been counting the cost of a major power cut which left them unable to trade on their busiest day of the week. The power cut, which has been blamed on a cable fault, affected 20 shops in the Marygate and Golden Square areas of Berwick town centre on Saturday. Huge quantities of perishable stock had to be thrown out by some retailers, while others were left bemoaning the loss of thousands of pounds in takings. With the health laws now they have to bin it, in fact sometimes the enviroment folk from the council come and spray it with dye
