From the Berwick Advertiser: SUPERMARKET giant Asda has bought the Co-op store in Tweedmouth, with all 73 members of staff transferring to the new owners. The move comes following an Office of Fair Trading ruling which forced The Co-operative Group to sell one of its stores in the town, having purchased the Somerfield chain in February this year. The news of Asda's imminent arrival in the town comes less than four months after final approval was given by Northumberland County Council to Tesco's detailed plans for an 'eco-store' next to Allan Brothers. was ok this mornin bugs/ we were there for opening and i had ma bag of coins for the change machine, but as i got out the car a gadge beat me to it wirra carrier bag full of 1 and 2 pences, i had to wait 15 mins , as we done the shopping it was starting to fill up, what a difference all the staff were sayin good morning and SMILING , good riddance to the co=op

dont know if its true but i did hear that asda had run out of potaoes and a few other things. there was a couple of empty shelfs first thing this morning tho!!!
