That is sad news that was my local in the 60's, Saturday night after the speedway. We used to call it the grave because everyone was dying to get in after the speedway. Why did it close?

musn't be getting many customers and i heard there was no heating on, so who's gonna pay money for a pint to sit in the cold think it'll be one of many to go and heard he's coming out of the salmon in sept. not sure if it's right tho so don't qoute me lol oh and i went to the grove too after the speedway

I often think about taking on a pub. I imagine that if you can afford to buy it (the pub), lock, stock, and barrel, the chances of making a living out of it are quite high. The brewery ‘experts’ seem to be completely clueless as to how to run a business in Berwick.

i wouldn't take on a pub for all the tea in china and i was last in the grove after a funeral a couple of years ago, it still had the same wallpaper on as it did when i used it many years ago

Even buying a pub outright would be a bit dicey now i think !Maybe if you can do good meals and entertainment you might have a bit of a chance !! Theres a lot of hard work involved in running a pub and long hours too .!
